Couples Swept Away
We love Couples Swept Away in Negril, Jamaica. We are two time guests at this beautiful and laid back resort. This blog entry will include a blend of our experiences on two separate trips.
Our Wedding
This is the site of our wedding!! A wedding is really easy to plan at Couples. The staff is very helpful, and the beach location is perfect. The best time of day for a wedding is the last time slot. It allows you align the photos with the beautiful sunset. If you’re considering this resort for your wedding, be sure to also book a back up location inside or under a shelter just in case it rains. The staff photographer is able to get excellent pictures and we are very happy with everything surrounding our wedding.

Dining and The Spa
Couples Swept Away has excellent food. If you do not frequently eat spicy food (sometimes very spicy hot) you will want to brings Tums or some antacid. The Jamaican beef patties are Karen’s favorite, while Corey loves the Jerk chicken (spicy). All of the food is excellent. The spa location is just a short walk across the street and is very nice. There is a smoothie bar, lap pool, tennis courts, exercise gym, and other facilities here. The spa services have excellent pricing and are professional in delivery.
Things To Do
Multiple daily activities are on site such as; beach volleyball, scuba lessons, shopping excursions, and catamaran cruises to name a few. The floats on the beach chairs are thick and excellent when using them in the sea. There are a large number of local vendors walking along the beach during the day. In general, they are very nice and willing to negotiate on their pricing. If you’re not interested, a firm but polite “no thank you” is usually enough to have them move along.
The shopping excursion into Negril was a negative experience for us. While the art and crafts by the locals is beautiful and priced well, some of the vendors are way too aggressive. Additionally, the resort hosts vendors on specific days and nights who have the same or similar items with much less pressure. The Catamaran cruise is extremely fun and so was the private boat tour. The private tour to watch cliff divers and eat dinner at a local bar with authentic Jerk chicken is one of many highlights.
The Rooms
While we are at Couples Swept Away we always choose the basic garden view room. The room has a very Caribbean feel, clean, and well attended to. Even though tips they are not required, we always take plenty of cash. The staff really appreciate the recognition for the hard work that they put in.

Some Extras
We always have positive experiences at all-inclusive resorts and this is definitely the case at Swept Away. The bartenders and wait staff are personable, professional, and prompt with their service. During our wedding trip, we were able to enjoy a private dinner on the beach. This experience, with a private waiter, multiple courses, by torch light on the beach was exceptional. Please remember to bring / wear bug spray. While swimsuits, cover up, shorts, and tank tops and similar attire are allowed during the day, there is a dress code for dinner in the evenings. Men must wear a shirt with a collar and sandals are not in the dress code.
Overall, we really enjoy our trips to Couples Swept Away in Negril. The food, drinks, staff, and service are excellent. If you are looking for a couples only all inclusive vacation, you should consider Couples Swept Away.
